Wall street is financing climate destruction

JPMorgan Chase Bank and Liberty Mutual Insurance Company are leaders in financing climate destruction.

Through their financing, insuring, and investing in fossil fuel companies, they continue to seek profit from the climate emergency that threatens life on Earth.

JPMorgan Chase is the worst bank in the world for the climate – far surpassing every other bank in funding fossil fuels by a whopping 36% over the last three years. During this time Chase plowed $268 billion into exacerbating the climate emergency.

Liberty Mutual is among the top US insurers of fossil fuel projects nationally and globally. Last year the company invested its premiums in fossil fuel companies and utilities to the tune of $8 billion. It’s earned the lowest climate score of 30 global insurance companies.

Send their CEO’s a message telling them to end their company’s support for fossil fuels!

To: Jamie Dimon (CEO, JPMorgan Chase) David Long (CEO, Liberty Mutual) Gordon Smith (VP, JPMorgan Chase) Daniel Pinto (VP, JPMorgan Chase), The climate emergency threatens all life on Earth, requiring far bolder action than we have seen to date from the financial sector. As an investor in fossil fuel companies, your company bears extra responsibility for ending the financing of fossil fuels. The August 2021 report from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change reconfirms the need for immediate, strong action on climate. As a leading financial institution, your actions now can help prevent the worst climate impacts. We have about a decade remaining to drastically cut greenhouses gas emissions if we are to keep global temperature increases below 1.5 degrees Celsius. Only by achieving a 45% reduction by 2030 and zero emissions by 2050 can we hope to avert the worst impacts of climate change. There is not a moment to lose. I urge you to exert the leadership to take immediate and decisive action to stop the money pipeline: · Halt all investment in fossil fuels · Develop a climate policy in line with the goals of the Paris Agreement We need true leadership that addresses the demands of the climate emergency – not half measures.
